Two Pierce County Middle School (PCMS) swimmers shone at the season finale at Jeff Davis Middle School.
Top middle school (MS) male and female swimmers, Sam Chesser and Teagan Dixon, were invited to compete at the first ever Jeff Davis MS season fnale swim meet hosted at the new aquatic facility in Appling County Friday, Jan. 13.
The swimmers competed in four individual events with both racking up two first place finishes and two second place finishes a piece, while posting season best performances each time they hit the water.
Chesser placed first in the 200yd Freestyle (2:46.73) dropping 19 seconds off of his previous best.
In the 50 yard freestyle, Chesser placed second, cutting almost a second and a half (28.00). Chesser took first in the 100 yard freestyle, dropping another second and a half (1:07.95). He finished the day with a second place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke and yet another personal record, with a three second drop (1:22.35).
These performances permitted Chesser to walk away with the Men’s Highpoint Award, earning more points than any other male swimmer.
Dixon topped off her season with numerous personal records of her own.
The first came in the 50 yard freestyle. Dixon took first with a time of (29.24), half a second faster than her season best. Dixon narrowly missed another first in the 100 yard freestyle, finishing second by only two one-hundredths of a second. Her effort topped her previous best by nearly a second (1:08.65).
Dixon rallied for a first place finish in the 100 yard backstroke, setting her third PR of the day by two full seconds (1:17.86).
She ended the day with a second place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke and the biggest drop of the day (1:27.91), 23 seconds off of her previous best for the season.
