The men’s team placed third out of ten teams and the women finished fourth.

The Pierce County High School (PCHS) swimmers competed in Waycross Tuesday, November 29.
The men’s team placed third out of ten teams and the women finished fourth.
Conner Shipes placed second in the 200 yard freestyle (2:31.13), Walker Sergent placed third in the 200 yard individual medley (IM) (2:28.78) and second in the 100 yard freestyle (57.59).
Aiden Vergara tied for second with a fast finish in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:14.52).
The men’s 200yd Freestyle relay of Vergara, Tristen Carlo, Shipes and W. Sergent placed third (1:47.74) in one of the most exciting events of the evening.
The women’s 200 yard medley claimed a third place finish (2:11.27) thanks to the efforts of Shianne Mullis, Jacey Ryals, Jasmine Sergent and Emma Dyal.
J. Sergent finished first in the 200 yard IM (3:08.49) and fourth in the 100yd Freestyle(1:09.35).
Mullis added points for her team by sealing a solid fourth place finish in the 100 yard backstroke (1:24.57).
“The entire team brought energy and effort, dropping times and setting new personal bests,” said Coach Jennifer Harris.
Both teams saw action again Saturday (Dec. 4) in Douglas.
Out of 10 teams, the men placed fourth and the women placed seventh.
The men were off to a quick start as the 200 yard medley relay of Rowan McCrea, Vergara, W. Sergent and Shipes took fourth (2:03.86).
Coach Harris gave a speicial shout-out to Davis Dyal for completing his first ever 200 yard freestyle (3:08.72).
Top finishes for the men include a third place finish ( 1:01.22) on the 100 yard butterfly for W. Sergent. W. Sergent would later win the 100 yard backstroke (1:06.59).
Vergara sealed a second place finish (56.57) in the 100yd Freestyle, and another second (1:12.89) in the 100 yard breaststroke, along with a new personal record.
The men’s 4x100yd freestyle relay ended the day in grand fashion, with PCHS taking first place (4:05.35), and finishing five seconds in front of their closest competitors.
As for the women, J. Sergent placed fifth (1:21.33) in the 100 yard butterfly and set a four second personal record in the 100 yard backstroke (1:25.24).
Coach Harris described two breakout performances in the 500 yard freestyle, as Mullis (7:06.09) and Ryals (7:19.86) took on the longest event of the meet.
Devyn Ball completed her first 100 yard breaststroke (1:57.19), and stepped up to help out on the relays.
The women’s 4x100 yard freestyle relay of Ryals, Ball, Mullis and J. Sergent ended the day with a third place finish (5:01.49).
Harris also gave special recognition to Kiara Nottingham, who “continues to get faster each time she touches the water.”
The team’s also competed Saturday, December 10 at the YMCA in Waycross. Results were not available at presstime.
