Peggy Joyce Kendrick Taylor

Peggy Joyce Kendrick Taylor, 88, of Waycross, passed away Monday morning, February 6, 2023, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, following an extended illness.

Born April 4, 1934, in Gadsden, AL, she was a daughter of the late Charles Olin and Minnie M. Cornelius Kendrick.  She was a graduate of Etowah High School in Gadsden and lived in DeLand, FL for many years before moving to Ware County in 1976. She was a longtime housewife and a member of Deenwood Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard Metelits; her second husband, Dell Taylor and a brother, Charles Michael “Dickie” Kendrick.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Robby and Kay Metelits, Waycross; a granddaughter, Ashley Dent (husband Jared), Baxley; five great-grandchildren, Peyton Thompson, Gracey Thompson, Ret Thornton, Aiden Dent and Lane Dent; a sister, Betty Sue Allen, Waycross and several other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, from Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Waycross.
