John Carroll Betterson

John Carroll Betterson, 73, passed away suddenly Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at his residence in Waycross.

He was born in Pierce County to the late John Davis and Celestine Betterson Garner.  He retired from Voith Fabrics (formerly Scapa Dryer) after 21 years of employment.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother and best friend, Rickey Betterson; eldest brother, Eugene Garner and his eldest sister, Ruth G. Taylor.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Beverly King, Waycross; his nieces, JoAnn Ratliff Wilcox, Bonnie King, Rochelle Baker, ShaTerika Storey; nephews, Louis (Regina) Ratliff, Dublin, Tony (Niki) Garner, Atlanta, Ga, Clete Garner, Dallas, TX, Jesse Williams, Waycross and Cedric Garner; great-nieces, Giselle Ratliff of New Jersey, Kim Ratliff, Augusta, Tennille (Leroy) Moss, Montgomery, AL, Diana (Arthur) Gibbs, Waycross, Alicia Taylor, Brandon, FL, Rabyn Ratliff, Tallahassee, FL and Mercedes Anderson, Dallas, TX, Salessia Garner, Jacksonville, Fl; great-nephews, André (Barbra) Ratliff, Jacksonville,  FL, Tyree Taylor, Brandon, FL, TJ (Candice) Garner, Atlanta, Fred (Jennie) Garner of Maryland, Jamor Garner, Miami, FL, Ryan Garner, Jacksonville, FL Todd Doles, Kalamazoo, Michigan; four generations of great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29, from the Music Funeral Home Chapel.
