Betty Jean Morgan Stewart

Betty Jean Morgan Stewart, 89, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday evening, May 10, 2023, at Baptist Village Retirement Communities in Waycross, following an extended illness.

Born April 8, 1934, in Nahunta, she was a daughter of the late C.E. and Candice Harris Morgan. She grew up in Brantley County and moved to Waycross for several years before moving to Pierce County in 1978. She was a longtime homemaker and was a longtime volunteer with the Pierce County Nursing Home Auxiliary as one of the Pink Ladies.

She was a longtime member of Youmans Chapel Baptist Church and attended the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. “Bill” Stewart Sr.; a son, W.A. “Buddy” Stewart Jr.; her step-mother who raised her, Inez Morgan; sister, Clarice Bell and five brothers, Rudolph Morgan, Brooker Morgan, Fenton Morgan, Edgar Morgan and Royce Morgan.

Survivors include her daughter, Becky Pardon, Blackshear; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ted (Charlotte) Stewart and Jeffrey (Nickie) Stewart, all of Blackshear; a daughter-in-law, Lorri Stewart-Myer, Blackshear; three grandchildren, Tommy Pardon, Nahunta, Rebecca Stewart Brown (husband B.J.), Blackshear and Matthew Stewart, Waycross; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Brown and Marleigh Kate Brown; two brothers, Glenn Morgan (wife Betty), Hawthorne, FL and Regan Morgan (wife Marilynn), Hoboken; a sister-in-law, Elender Morgan, Nahunta and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Alyce Roberson, Blackshear and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until noon Saturday, May 13, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, May 13, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in the Enon Cemetery.
