A man suffered serious injuries in an accident that occurred last Monday in Offerman proper.
The accident occurred at 8:01 a.m. Feb. 13 on U.S. Highway 84 at the Offerman Loop.

A man suffered serious injuries in an accident that occurred last Monday in Offerman proper.
The accident occurred at 8:01 a.m. Feb. 13 on U.S. Highway 84 at the Offerman Loop.
According to the accident report, Austin Scott Thompson, 22, of Pembroke, FL, was driving a 2019 Ford Fiesta north on Offerman Loop. Thompson stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with U.S. 84, but turned into the path of a 2013 Freightliner semi truck driven by Daniel Cohen, 61, of Waynesville. Cohen was driving west on U.S. Highway 84.
The Fiesta traveled 25.7 feet from the initial impact coming to rest facing east. The semi pulled in to the middle lane of the four-lane.
One serious injury was reported, but the report was unclear on which driver was hurt. The injured was transported to Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross. An update on his condition was not available at press time.
Trooper Chase Middleton of the Georgia State Patrol was in charge of the accident investigation.
Other agencies responding include the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, Pierce County EMS and the Offerman and Otter Creek Fire Stations of the Pierce County Volunteer Fire Department.
