Coach Maureen “Mo” Brown
Coach Maureen “Mo” Brown has been recognized as the Southeast Georgia Middle School Athletic Conference Director of the Year.
Brown was recently recognized with the honor by the Southeast Georgia Middle School Conference.
Brown will retire at the end of this school year with 38 years of dedicated service to Pierce County Schools.
However, Coach Brown’s involvement in Pierce County sports is far from over. This summer, she will start a new journey as Pierce County Recreation Director.
Affectionately known as “Coach Mo,” Brown has been athletic director at Pierce County Middle School for 29 years. Among the first in this area to hold the office at the middle school level, Brown oversaw a PCMS sports program that dominated the Southeast Georgia Middle School Athletic Conference for more than two decades.
A basketball and track star at Blackshear High in the late 1970s, Brown played collegiate basketball at South Georgia College and Georgia College before starting a successful high school coaching career.
Brown served stints as head coach of girls basketball, softball and golf at Pierce County High School. There she ushered in the advent of fast-pitch softball at PCHS and oversaw two golf state championships (2000, 2005).
