Pets can rest assured they can find their owners with new chip scanner

Blackshear now has a 24-hour, publicly accessible pet microchip scanning station, installed at the Compass360 Realty office at 112 NW Central Avenue.

The battery-operated station is free for public use and intended to help quickly reunite lost pets with their owners, which has been a growing need in the community. A ribboncutting ceremony was held December 9 to celebrate the launch.

Tanya Coleman, Realtor and office manager for Compass360 Realty, coordinated the project along with her fellow Golden Isles Association of Realtors Leadership Academy classmates Rebecca Gould Strouther of Duckworth Properties, Lisa Murray of Coldwell Banker Access Realty, and Jessica Rhodes

The Pierce County Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon cutting for the pet microchip station. of Hale Mortgage Group. The initiative served as the group’s community service project, a required component of the program’s coursework.

After learning about a microchip station in Camden County, the team reached out for information and began work on the project, ultimately securing funds to install five stations in Glynn County and one in Blackshear. Each station features a universal microchip scanner capable of reading all major chip brands, as well as a QR code with instructions on what to do when a lost pet is found.

The Blackshear station was sponsored by Compass360 Realty, Kimbrell Veterinary Clinic and Allmons All About Animals.
