The City of Hoboken council discussed/voted on the following agenda items during the Tuesday, February 3 monthly meeting.

• Approval of February agenda: The council approved the agenda for the February regular council meeting.

• Swearing in of City official: Council Member Amy Lee, who was not present at the January meeting, was sworn in on Tuesday.

• Approval of January minutes:

Council members approved the minutes of the previous regular council meeting held in January.

• Sidewalks on Hwy. 82 and Palm Street: A motion carried to adopt a resolution for a Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank (GTIB) application through Roberts Civil Engineering to fix sidewalks along Highway 82 and Palm Street.

• Road closure: The decision to close Dogwood/Coweta Road was postponed indefinitely.

Mayor Joey Crews stated the City is still waiting to hear from a concerned citizen who is “working on a paperwork issue” before the council proceeds with the road closure.

• Hoboken Police Department: The Hoboken Police Department reported 37 calls for service, conducted 67 traffic stops, issued 31 citations and gave 36 verbal warnings in the month of January.

• Hoboken Fire Department: The Hoboken Fire Department reported 25 calls in January, including an accidental injury, medical, debris in roadway, brush fire, structure fire and fire alarm.

The HVFD also said they are looking to purchase two used trucks this year, one engine and one tanker.

• Office Administration: City Clerk Linda Henderson reported being contacted by a representative for Global Atlanta’s 7th Annual Global Trade & Investment Symposium in Macon scheduled for February 19.

The representative invited city council members to Wesleyan College along with representatives of 13 counties, including Consul General of Belgium in Atlanta, Katherine Raeymaekers.

• Correction: The council made a motion to terminate Bryson Stone during January’s meeting. He was not acting as City Attorney at that time, as last month’s issue incorrectly stated.
