Born in Brunswick, Strickland’S parents were the late Bobby Lee Strickland and Brenda Lois Black Strickland of Hortense. Along with his fat her, Strickland was preceded in death by his brother, Jonathan M. Strickland, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Minnie and Floyd Black; and paternal grandparents, John and Rosa Strickland.

Strickland worked many years as a brick mason. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Carter of Hortense; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Phillip Strickland (Sara) and Garret Beppler, all of Illinois; daughter and son-in-law, Amber Baca (Omar) of Valdosta; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Anastasia Warner (Chris) of Hortense; 10 grandchildren; his mother, Brenda Black Strickland of Brunswick; sister, Charlene Carter of Brunswick; and special nephews, James Andrew Carter of Brunswick and Jonathan M. Strickland, Jr., of Hortense; also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
