NAHUNATA — Reba Highsmith Crews, 76 of Nahunta, passed away Sunday morning, October 19, 2025 at her residence, surrounded by her family.

Born in Nahunta, Mrs. Crews’ parents were Ellis Hilton Highsmith and Alma Johns Highsmith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Crews; a daughter, Jennifer Crews; two brothers, Edgar Ellis “Buddy” Highsmith and James Charles Highsmith; two brothersi n-law, David Carter and Floyd Young; a sister-in-law, Aline Highsmith; and great nephew, Tallan James Tanner.

Mrs. Crews was a faithful member of Nahunta Church of God. She worked in the Brantley County Tax Commissioner’s Office for 55+ years.

Mrs. Crews loved her grandkids and listening to gospel music. She lived her life with a servant’s heart — faithful, humble, always putting others before herself. Her warm smile and gentle spirit touched everyone she met.

Survivors include her two sons and daughter-inlaw, Harry Charlie Crews of Nahunta and Jamie Ellis Crews (Kimberly) of Nahunta; five grandchildren, Tyler Crews (Kristin), Carter Crews, Peyton Crews, Paisley Crews and Brooke Diaz; a great grandchild, Monty Crews; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline Carter of Hilliard, Fla., Joyce Valdez (Mario) of Jacksonville, Fla., Lafane Driggers (Craig) of Waycross, Virginia Frye (Ernest) of Nahunta, Diane Lake (Joe) of Nahunta; a brother, Charles Highsmith of Nahunta; a sisterin- law, Frances Hall of Nahunta; special friends, Lilly and Wain Crews of Nahunta; also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday (October 21, 2025) from 6 p.m.-8 p.m., at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

Funeral Services will be held today (Wednesday, October 22, 2025) at 11 a.m., at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Florey officiating.

Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Crews, Harry Crews, Tyler Crews, Carter Crews, Peyton Crews, Jeff Highsmith and Bradley Lake.

Honorary pallbearers will be former and current employees of the Brantley County Tax Commissioner’s Office.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
