Mollie Hart Long

Mollie Hart Long
Born in Barney, Ga., in 1931, Mrs. Long grew up with a voice that carried the warmth of the south
Long
and a spirit as bright as the lipstick she never left home without. Friends and family will forever remember that drawl that could make the hardest news sound a little softer and her “Orange Flip” colored lipstick that became her signature.
She married Thomas Lamar Long, Jr., July 11, 1958 and had three children. They were together for 54 years prior to his passing.
To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she wasn’t just Mollie — she was Mimi, the heart of the family. Her hugs, stories and sweet treats she’d always have in her purse will be treasured memories for generations.
Mrs. Long’s life was stitched together with kindness, grit and laughter. She poured her heart into her family and was instrumental in caring for many of her grandchildren. She was also a lifelong reader and didn’t go far without a book or later in life, her Kindle.
Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lamar Long, Jr.; her mother, Marie Hart Wise; and her life-long best friend, Betty Breeden.
She is survived by three children, Danny Long of Hortense, Cathy Long Pringle of Darien and David Lamar Long (Amy) of Summerville, S.C.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Both her first granddaughter and first greatgranddaughter bear her name.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Golden Isles for their care and support during the last months of her life. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Hospice of the Golden Isles.
A funeral service held Friday, September 19 at Edo Miller & Sons with Pastor Kris Dockery, officiating.
