Smart was born in Waycross to the late Charles Norman Smart and Donna Jean Calhoun Smart. He was a truck driver for Southland Waste for many years, but had most recently worked in the family business, Smart Appliances. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, Smart was also preceded in death by three brothers, Chuck Smart, Tony Smart and Randall Smart; and a sister, Karen Crews.

He is survived by his wife, Genese Pittman Smart of Blackshear; three children, Rebecca Lynn (George), Gene Smart (Renee) and Bradley Smart (Amy) all of Blackshear; 13 grandchildren, Lexus Lynn, Skyy Purdom (Brandon), Hanna Smart, Kolby Lynn, Michael Smart, Jr, Braylen Smart, Drew Smart, Ashlyn Bowman, Derick McQuaig, Courtney Baker, Haley Baker, Justin Martin and Ansley King; four great grandchildren, Remington Purdom, Wrenley Smart, Keaton Smart and Olivia Vick; three siblings, Allen Smart (Sandy) of Waycross, Clarence Smart of High Springs, Fla., and Lynn Smart of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 11 at 11 a.m., at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Swamp Road Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today (Wednesday, September 10) at the funeral home.
