PIERCE COUNTY — Mrs. Mary Frances Griffin, 84, passed away Friday, August 22, 2025, at Harborview of Pierce County after an extended illness.

Mrs. Griffin was born July 1, 1941, in Coffee County to the late Henry Gilliard and Oveida Nettles Gilliard. She retired from Baptist Village as a supervisor.

In addition to her pare nts, Whitaker also was preceded in death by her husband, William Allen “Shorty” Griffin; son, Allen “Cooter” Griffin; and brothers, Doc, Billy and Earl Gilliard.

Survivor include her children, Willie Griffin (Vivian) of Alma, Gaston “Goose” Griffin (Kathy) of Ware County, Earl Griffin (Sherry) of Waycross and Christine Smart (Paul) of Blackshear; 10 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; siblings, Jimmy Gilliard, Bobby Gilliard, Glenda Faye Mize, Lou Braddock and Beverly Holton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, August 26, at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
