WAYCROSS — James Aaron Crews, 62, of Waycross, died Sunday night, August 17, 2025, at Memorial Satilla Health after a sudden illness.
Crews was born in Waycross to Robert L. “Bobby” Crews and Christine Taylor Hewett. He had made Waycross his home for his entire life. Crews was a skilled carpenter for Albert Hersey Construction and Lamar Johnson Construction.
He had a passion for the outdoors. Crews loved to fish, throw horseshoes and shoot pool. More than anything, he loved his grandchildren and any moment he was able to spend with them.
Crews was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. “Bobby” Crews; and one brother, Bobby Edward Crews, Sr.
He is survived by two sons, James R. Crews (Destiny) of Waycross and Eric Crews (Sarah) of Waycross; six grandchildren, Garrett Crews, Ashlynn Crews, Austin Crews, Lydia Munford, Chevy Crews and Ryder Crews; one great granddaughter, Brinlee Crews; his mother, Christine Hewett of Waycross; three sisters, Elaine Hodges (Wayne) of Waresboro, Lorraine Dowling of Blackshear and Peggy Crews of Waycross; one brother, Robert Crews of Waycross; his former wife and mother of his children, Debora Ann Crews of Brunswick; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
