She was born December 14, 1934 in Waycross to the late John Hester and Mary Ollie Mc-Quaig Hester. Mrs. Petty was formerly employed by Memorial Hospital and Satilla Regional Medical Center as a ward clerk and registered nurse for 34 years.

She enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Petty was preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Petty; sisters, Geraldine Fields Petty

(James), Vera Fitchett (Morris) and Evelyn Walker (Robert); a brother, Floyd Hester (Mae); and grandchildren, Jamie Stone, Tina Shreve and Michael Shreve.

Survivors include her children, Diane McDade of Jacksonville, Fla., Louise Shreve of Brunswick, Larry Crews of Valdosta, Annette Morales (Raul) of Waycross, and Bobby Crews (Debra) of Hoboken; step-son, Wylie Petty of Mexico Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Maria Johnson (Gregory), Tannie Hughes, Cathy Franklin, Mary Ann Bobo (Charles), Angie Cherry (Richard), Robert Wayne Shreve, Chris Crews, Cody Crews, Mitchell Crews (Sierra), Kira Crews, Angeleek Bostick (Tony), Michael Morales, Michelle Morales, Kristen Graham (Derek) and Kyle Crews (Zowie); and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Friday, July 11, 2025 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.
