The Rev. Rainey dies at 77

Rainey The Rev. Glenn Rainey, former pastor of Patterson United Methodist Church, passed away Wednesday, June 25, after a short, but brave, fight against cancer. He was 77.

The Rev. Rainey served the Patterson United Methodist Church and was known as “a servant leader who loved the Lord and served the Lord by helping others in any way he could”.

The Rev. Rainey served in the ministry for over 50 years and was also an educator, teaching in the Pierce, Bacon and Glynn County Schools. He taught GED classes at the Bacon Probation Detention Center. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served two tours as a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War. He retired from the National Guard.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home in Alma.
