WAYCROSS — Barbara Crispin Jones, 87, of Waycross, passed away on May 11, 2025, and joined her beloved husband in the presence of Jesus.
Born in New Jersey on January 13, 1938, Mrs. Jones lived most of her life in Wayc ross where she was a dev oted wife, mother, and prec ious “Grana.”
She never met a stranger and was wellknown in the community by the love and care she showed to everyone around her. If you were in the company of Mrs. Jones, you were family and left feeling loved and well fed. She had a gift for working with children and ran a “playschool” program in her home for more than 25 years where she was “Jonesie” to many.
Mrs. Jones was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Waycross where she faithfully led in children’s ministry, Sunday School, missions trips, Jolly Friends, Builders for Christ, and was even selected as Woman of the Year. She was often found cooking for someone who needed a meal, and she used food to show care to others. Mrs. Jones served as the Chairman of the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) and was involved in multiple civic committees serving Waycross.
Mrs. Jones survived breast cancer twice and then went on to co-found the Southeast Cancer Unit which works to raise funds and serve countless cancer patients and their families. In all of these areas, Mrs. Jones was known for taking difficult circumstances and turning them into an opportunity to spread love and hope because she knew the abiding hope that she had through her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Jones was married to her beloved husband, Glenn, for more than 65 years and together they served their community and impacted many lives. She was proud of her family and was truly beloved by all who knew her.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her children, Renee Jones (Brian) Thomason and Alan Jones; grandchildren, Emily Grace (Jake) Cole, Peter (Taylor) Thomason, and Christopher Thomason; great grandchildren, Ben Thomason, Tim Thomason, and Thomas Cole; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn V. Jones; parents, Alvin L. and Rena (Griffith) Crispin of New Jersey; and siblings Dorothy (Stanley) Crispin Stultz, Clifford L. (Sara) Crispin, Alvin C. (Violet) Crispin, and David B. (Jeanette) Crispin.
Celebration of Life was held graveside in Greenlawn Cemetery Saturday, May 17 with the Rev. Mark Williams officiating.
