WAYCROSS — Miss Martha Taylor, 102, of Waycross died Friday, May 16, 2025, at a local retirement community.

She was born in Atlanta, April 22, 1923, and lived in Waycross for some 60 years. Miss Taylor graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1940 and attended Georgia State College for Women (now Georgia College and State University) in Milledgeville, matriculating in 1944.

Miss Taylor then began a career with the Georgia Department of Public Health and moved to Waycross to serve as director of the State Health Department Laboratory, retiring in 1992. She was a member of Waycross First Presbyterian Church and the Waycross Pilot Club. She enjoyed traveling, reading, caring for pets, and sharing her delightful sense of humor with friends.

Miss Taylor was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac Tucker Taylor and Kizzie Veazey Taylor. She never married and had no children.

A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald on Friday, May 23.
