TWIN RIVERS – Athelene Moody Jacobs, 85 of Patterson, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at St. Joseph’s hospital in Savannah after an extended illness.

Born in Hortense, Mrs. Jacobs’ parents were Warren Moody and Gussie Sloan Moody. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Junior Jackson Jacobs; two brothers, Alvin Moody and Archie Moody; and three sisters, Irene Drury, Corene Roberson and Eula Crews.

Mrs. Jacobs was a member of Raybon Church of God of Prophecy. She enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, and going to church. Mrs. Jacobs was a band leader, Cradle Roll leader and was a Sub-Sunday School teacher. Most of all, she loved taking care of her family.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-inlaw, Chester Jacobs, Andrew “Andy” Jacobs (Lisa), Mark Jacobs (Paula) and Brad Jacobs (Marie) all of Twin Rivers; two daughters, Nita Phillips of Twin Rivers and Diane Jacobs of Hortense; 11 grandchildren, Dasha Johns (Lorne) Shea Davis (Trey), Eric Causey (Becky), Dustin Causey (Nicole), Daniel Hollingsworth, Taylour Rhoden (Mikey), Andrew Jacobs (fiance` Mackenzie), Aaron Jacobs (Haley), Austin Jacobs, A.J. Jacobs, Audrey Deonne (Skyler); several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Odie Crews of Nahunta; three sisters-in-law, Shelby Jacobs of Hortense, Geraldine Booth of Macclenny, Fla., and Mary Phillips of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A funeral services was held Monday, May 19, 2025 at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Bishop Raymond Willis, Rev. Ronnie Sharpe and Bro. David Herrin officiating.

Burial followed in Hortense Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Chester Jacobs, Andy Jacobs, Mark Jacobs, Brad Jacobs, Dustin Cause, and Eric Causey.

Honorary pallbearers were A.J. Jacobs, Warren Moody, Andrew Jacobs, Aaron Jacobs and Austin Jacobs.

Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
