William Christopher ‘Chris’ Corson

BRUNSWICK — William Christopher “Chris” Corson, 76 of Brunswick, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Waycross Health and Rehab in Waycross.

Corson was a life-long resident of Brunswick, growing up on the creeks and rivers of Blythe Island. He graduated from Glynn Academy in 1967. Corson attended Brunswick Junior College then marine mechanic school in Daytona Beach, Fla.

After graduation, he worked as a boat mechanic for the Department of Natural Resources and retired after 34 years of service.

Corson was a long-time member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church but

attended Grace Community Church more recently.

He was a humble, sweet man who was liked by everyone and had many friends. Corson loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing and being on the river. He also loved to watch NASCAR racing, Georgia Bulldogs football and Atlanta Braves baseball.

Corson was preceded in death by his parents, William Guerin Corson, Sr., and Hazel Pauline “Pom” Townsend Corson; a step-son, Justin Corson, and his father-inlaw, Bob McCraw.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Deddie Wright Corson; a son, Matt Corson (Nadine) of Middleburg, Fla., a step-daughter, Chelsea Gillis (Drake) of Brantley County; four grandchildren, Shea Rich, Madison Corson and Teagan Rich, all of Middleburg, Fla., and Judah Gillis of Brantley County; two brothers, William “Bill” Guerin Corson, Jr (Shirley) of Brunswick and William “Sam” Davis Corson (Faye) of St. Joseph, La.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, May 9, 2025, at 11 a.m., at Grace Community Church with Pastor Jason Peacock officiating.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Waycross Health and Rehab and Affinis Hospice for the wonderful care they provided for Chris.
