HORTENSE — Cora Lee Purvis, 95 of Hortense, formerly of Brunswick, departed this life Monday, February 10, 2025 at SGHS Camden.

Born January 25, 1930 in Douglas to the late Elidge and Matilda Ella N. King, Mrs. Purvis was a nurse’s assistant at SGHS Brunswick. She was a member of Antioch Holiness Baptist Church.

Mrs. Purvis lived most of her life in Brunswick. She lived in Hortense the past five years with her granddaughter/caretaker Belinda Howe and her husband Charles Howe. Mrs. Purvis enjoyed going to church, cooking and spending time with her beloved family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Purvis was preceded in death by her two wonderful husbands, Norwood Barnard and Thomas M. Purvis; daughters, Geraldine Hendricks, Gail Barnard Johnson, Patricia Richardson, Gail Faulkner and Vickie Purvis; grandchildren, Sonya Thomas, Christopher Purvis.

Survivors include daughters, Josephine Kindle and Frances Davis; grandchildren, Crystal Bender, Sandra DePalma, Connie Kindle, Belinda Howe, R. Andrew Johnson, Keith Hendricks, Lori Hand, Tommy Eades, Richard Roland, Krystal Coger, Lexy Odum and Devin Cargile; several wonderful great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tommy Eades, Richard Roland, Scott Strean, Colby Hendricks, Buddy Howe and Larry Hamilton.

The family received friends Tuesday afternoon, February 18, 2025 from 1 p.m., until the funeral hour at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.

A funeral service was conducted Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Grimes officiating.

Entombment will follow in Chapel Park Cemetery.

Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home of Brunswick is in charge of arrangements.
