Juneteenth Celebration
The Waycross Branch of the NCAAP and its sponsors celebrated Juneteenth Freedom Day with activities at the C.C. McCray City Auditorium. The event was originally scheduled to be held in the Oak & Folk Streets neighborhood, but a late morning thunderstorm sent participants, vendors and organizers inside to stage the program and other activities. Waycross Mayor Michael-Angelo James welcomed those gathered for the celebration to officially begin the program commemorating the June 19, 1865 holiday.
