The Pierce County Recreation Board meets at 8:30 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month in the second-floor auditorium at the Southeast Georgia Regional Agriculture Center, 705 College Avenue, Blackshear.  

Meeting dates include September 1, October 6, November 3 and December 1.

Magnolia House to host golf tournament Magnolia House to host golf tournament Magnolia House is gearing up for its Fall Classic Golf Tournament August 21 at the Okefenokee Country Club, and is seeking both teams and sponsors to help make this event a success. This two-man scramble tournament will include lunch, range balls and cart fees with cash prizes awarded to the top gross and net teams. Registration begins 11 a.m.. Lunch will be served at noon and the shotgun start begins 1 p.m.  To register a team, contact Magnolia House at 912-584-8296 or email [email protected]. Veterans Information Session Veterans Information Session The next Veterans Information Session will be 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Friday, October 30 at the NFC Gym in Blackshear. Following the success of their May informational event, the local chapter of Amvets has scheduled a second session to reach those in the veteran community who could not previously attend. There is no cost to attend and all veterans, spouses and dependents are welcome. Guylee Washington, commander of local Amvets Post 1857, which is hosting the event, seeks to ensure all interested veterans have access to important information which could benefit them. For more info, call 912-286-4810 or email [email protected].
