Youth council sets black history event The Mayor’s Youth Council of Waycross presents “The Next Chapter,” from noon to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, February 14 at C.C. McCray City Auditorium, 865 Pendleton Street.

The program led by the council’s Mayor Pro Tem Paula Gomez and other council members will honor black history. The event will center on local voices, and uplifting the next generation through story telling, music and reflection.

Ware County GOP to meet Feb. 16 The Ware County Republican Party holds its monthly meeting at 6 p.m., Monday, February 16 at Hog ‘n’ Bones Restaurant, 1900 Memorial Drive.

Jim Kingston, a candidate for U.S. House of Representatives from District 1 has been invited to speak, spokesperson Debra Giddens said. Since February 16 is President’s Day there will be a special program to commemorate the holiday.

SGRC aging panel meets Feb. 25 The Aging Advisory Council of the Southern Georgia Regional Commission’s Area Agency on Aging will meet at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 25 at the Nashville Community Center, 102 North Jefferson Street.

Data centers focus of meeting Feb. 16 The Satilla Riverkeeper will host a Town Hall meeting at 6 p.m., Monday, February 16 at the C.C. McCray City Auditorium on data centers.

The forum will discuss the pros and cons of allowing development of the centers in a community. Experts will be on hand to answer questions.
