Stoner’s Pizza Joint returns to city

Members of the Waycross-Ware County Chamber of Commerce gathered Tuesday to hold a ribbon cutting for Stoner’s Pizza Joint.

Located on 2505 Plant Avenue Ext. in Waycross, the restaurant had originally been a Stoner’s Pizza, before being converted into Zoner’s Pizza.

Now, under the new ownership of Ydarius Baker, the spot is once again a Stoner’s Pizza Joint.

Baker, a Douglas native, owns a Stoner’s location in Sylvania, Ga., and remarked that he felt it was “great to bring Stoner’s Pizza Joint back in town.”

He added he hopes to expand Stoner’s locations around south Georgia.

“I appreciate Waycross for bringing us in, it’s a pleasure to be here,” Baker said during the February 3 ceremony. “We’re gonna take care of our customers.

“My wife and I, we’re gonna be here every day and make sure everything’s done right.”

Stoner’s will offer $3 slices of pizza daily, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., something Baker has brought from his Sylvania location.

“You have truckers and people who come in that don’t really have time to wait for a full meal,” he said. “So I came up with the idea for slices, so if you have people who want to come through, they can just get a slice, get a drink, and go on their way.”

Stoner’s Pizza Joint is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday.
