Cassie Sue Meeks

Cassie Sue Meeks, 80, of Blackshear, passed away Monday morning, February 2, 2026, at Harborview Pierce County following an extended illness.
Born August 11, 1945, in Alma, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Redding “Red” and Mirtie Lee Peacock Meeks. She grew up in Pierce County and was a 1963 graduate of Blackshear High School. As a young adult, she was the co-owner of Shamrock Flower and Gift Shop before moving to Jacksonville, Florida. She attended the Jones Business School, graduating in 1985 and worked as a bookkeeper for multiple vehicle dealerships before moving to Nashville, Tennessee.
In Nashville, she worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail handler. Following retirement, she enjoyed working part-time at the Grand Ole Opry before returning to Pierce County to be near her family.
She was a longtime member of Beulah Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Buster Meeks, D.W. Meeks and Elouise Rish.
Survivors include her first cousins, Jerry E. Peacock (wife Judy), Linda Sapp (husband D.R.), Phillip Golub and Sharon Roberson, all of Blackshear, and Mark Golub, Warner Robins; several special cousins including Brad Sapp and family, Brent Sapp and family, Lauren Roberson Klein and family and Zach Roberson and family and several other relatives.
Visitation will take place from 2-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
Private burial will follow in the Beulah Cemetery.
