City woman faces Brantley drug charges

NAHUNTA — A Waycross woman was arrested by the Nahunta Police Department following a proactive traffic stop Tuesday.

Teresa Googe, 53, was transported to the Brantley County Sheriff’s Office and released to the jail for booking procedures.

According to the police report, Officer Christian Acevedo and K-9 Officer Cole Sturgill with the NPD conducted the January 27 traffic stop of Googe at approximately 11:40 p.m., on Hughes Street within the city limits of Nahunta.

During the course of the stop and subsequent investigation, officers located a methamphetamine pipe, a quantity of methamphetamine and a small amount of marijuana inside the vehicle.

Googe displayed signs of impairment and was taken into custody without incident. She was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug-Related Objects, Driving While License Suspended, Driving with a Suspended Tag, and Possession of Marijuana.

Chief Brad Todd praised the officers’ proactive enforcement efforts.

“This arrest is another example of the daily commitment our officers make to proactively remove dangerous drivers from our roadways,” he said. “Through consistent traffic enforcement and investigative work, we are working every day to keep our citizens safe.

“Our officers remain dedicated to protecting lives, preventing crime before it escalates, and ensuring the safety of everyone who travels through our community. Proactive policing plays a critical role in maintaining public safety.”
