WAYCROSS — Mr. Bret Nelson, 56, passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Memorial Satilla Health.
He was born October 4, 1969, in Waycross to the late Jim Leigh Nelson and Ann ette McKinnon. In addition to his parents, Nelson
he also was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Marie Nelson.
He was a graduate of Hemet (Calif.) High School and formerly employed with Waycross Monument and Coastal Doors. He enjoyed walking and reading novels, and he was a history/movie trivia buff. Nelson was a friendly person with a good sense of humor.
He is survived by his two daughters, Tiffany Durrance (Brittany Cherie Durrance) of Waycross and Kaylie Nelson of Waycross; one granddaughter; five grandsons; and four siblings, Leigh Nelson of Nashville, Tenn., Dawna Nelson of Greenville, N.C., Bill Nelson of Waycross, and Rhonda Nelson of Waycross. Also mourning his passing is his dog and faithful companion, Jake.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 14 at Pidgeon Creek Church in Hilliard Fla. Visitation will begin at noon followed by the service.
