Special to the WJH RICHMOND, Ky. – Ware County alum Jarvis Hayes has signed with the Eastern Kentucky University football.
Hayes (6-foot, 177 lbs.), a redshirt juni or, played last season at Georgia Military College (GMC). He caught 11 passes for 413 yards (37.6 per reception) hauling in four touchdown passes.
Hayes had a career-high three catches and two TDs last season in a 84-12 rout of Sussex County Community College and a careerbest 104 yards (two catches) and a touchdown in a 63-17 win against Andrew College helping GMS to a 10-1 regular season record.

“We are really excited to get Jarvis in our program,” said Jax Egan, Director of Player Personnel & Recruiting for the Colonels’ program. “He is a legitimate playmaker who can give our offense another dimension.”
Hayes signed with Western Kentucky (offered May 3, 2022) December 21, 2022 after helping Ware County capture the 2022 Class 5A state title. He was redshirted his freshman season (2023) and did not see any action in 2024 before transferring to GMC in Milledgeville.
Hayes, a three-star prospect out of high school, was also recruited by Charlotte, Colorado State, Georgia Southern (April 3, 2022), Georgia State (June 3, 2022), Iowa State (April 3, 2022), Jacksonville State (May 10, 2022), Kent State and Minnesota (May 10, 2022).
He is one of 19 new Colonels from the transfer portal with 17 having Division I experience. Hayes was one of two wide receivers among the signees.
Hayes is the son of Cyrlus Hayes and April Grant. He has two brothers, Keshawn and Jaylin, and two sisters, Tanae and Aniya. Hayes plans on being a general studies major.
