Ware County’s “A” rifle team dominated the competition winning all three matches last week at the Ware County Shooting Range.
The Gators “A” squad shot 1,163 in beating St. Vincent’s 1,117 score Tuesday, January 27. The Ware County 4-H team placed third with 1,112 points. Ware County “B” followed with 1,063 points and Ware County “C” was fifth.
WCHS’s “A” team posted a 1,155 score score to beat Benedictine’s 1,102 in a Wednesday, January 28 match. Ware County “C” finished third with a score of 1,066, WCHS “B” shot 1,063 and the Ware 4-H team rounded out the field.
A busy four-day stretch ended Friday, January 30 with Ware County “A” firing an 1,151 score to win a five-team match that included Southeast Bulloch visiting.
Ware County 4-H recorded an 1,114 for second. WCHS “B” placed third with a 1,079 score. WCHS “C” was fourth with a 1,025 total. SEB placed fifth with a 929 score.
In the first match of the week, which included St. Vincent’s, the “A” team recorded 67 center shots.
Gabbie Howard shot a teamhigh 293 (17 centers) to lead the way. Autumn Buskirk followed with a 291 (16 centers). Camdyn Thornton posted a 290 (18 centers) with Angel Hernandez finishing with 289 (16 centers).
The Ware 4-H team was led by Greyson Christmas, who recorded a 288 (15 centers).
WCHS “A” recorded 62 center shots in the victory against Benedictine. Thornton led the Gators with a score of 291 (16 centers). Howard was one point back at 290 (17 centers). Buskirk and Hernandez each recorded scores of 287.
WCHS “C” was led by Zakyira Perry (273) and Macey Haddock (272). WCHS “B” was led by Nicholas Hensley with a 278.
In the final match, the “A” team recorded 56 center shots. Howard led the way with a teamhigh 293 (18). She was followed by Buskirk’s 289 (13) and Hernandez’s 286 (11).
The Ware County 4-H squad was paced by the 284 (12) score of Christmas.
Ware County “B” received a 280 (10) from Ben Dean led the B team with a 280-10. Ware County “C” was led by Nathan Casavant’s 271 (13) aggregate score.
Ware County is hosting Bradwell Institute today (Wednesday, February 4) at 5 p.m.
