Belle Sinclair is Pierce County’s STAR student and she has selected Pierce County High School College Math teacher Rebecca “Becky” King as her STAR teacher.

Sinclair scored 1390 of a possible 1,600 score on the SAT. The STAR student is chosen annually based on academic excellence and attaining the highest SAT score among the senior class. Sinclair has a 4.0 grade point average (102.292) and is currently ranked first in her class of 212 students.

Sinclair is the daughter of Chris and Amanda Sinclair and has an older sister, Bayleigh.

She is also taking a rigorous course load which includes college-level and honors classes. She has completed the Early Childhood Education Pathway, scoring in the top national percentile, and was selected for the prestigious Pierce Teacher Academy Program.

She has been a member of the Lady Bears State Champion Golf Team for three years. She is also active with the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America where she currently serves as vice president of finance and previously served as vice president of public relations.

Sinclair is also a member of the Beta Club, the superintendent’s advisory council and was selected for the Homecoming court.

King taught Sinclair honors algebra and precalculus, college algebra, college statistics, college pre-calculus and is current in her college calculus class. Sinclair says she selected King because of the impacts she had on her as a teacher. “She has prepared me the most by what she has taught me,” Sinclair said. King has been named as STAR teacher four times so far in her career. King said she is humbled and honored by being selected as STAR teeacher.

She says Sinclair is an outstanding student and a great example in both behavior and work ethic.

“She has taken college classes while competing on the golf team and has the balance of being top in the class and top at her game,” said King. “Her attitude is great and her grades never suffered. Overall, Belle is a model student.”

King is homegrown having graduated from Pierce County High School in 1985. She was the valedicatorian of her senior class.
