Public notices kept available online and in print by Georgia newspapers

Georgians have access to public notices thanks to the hard work of newspapers publishing notices every week in physical form as well as making them available on the free website www.GeorgiaPublicNotice. com.

Last year, Georgia considered legislation to require that public notices be published on a website run by the state for an additional fee, duplicating what Georgia newspapers provide for free. That legislation did not advance because of the work of Georgia Press Association and its members, including The Blackshear Times.

Newspapers, including this one, provide a valuable service by running public notices and also making readers aware of GeorgiaPublicNotice.com. Increasing the visibility of this service helps to ensure public notices stay where they can be independently verified and most widely seen— in print.
