Blackshear School Council meets February 12

The Blackshear Elementary School Council will meet at 7:50 a.m. Thursday, February 12, at the school.

OHC Quilt Guild accepting submissions until Feb. 19

The Okefenokee Heritage Center South Georgia Modern Quilt Guild is accepting submissions until February 19 for the upcoming Fiber Art Exhibit.

The Fiber Art Exhibit is to be held March 1-24. Submissions may include traditional and modern quilts, crochet, knitting, hand-dyed items, cross-stitch and many more. For more information or a submission form, contact okeheritage @ gmail. com.

Pageants to be held at PCHS March 14

The Miss Spirit of Pierce, Miss PCMS, and Miss PCHS Pageants will be held Saturday, March 14, at the PCHS auditorium.

Email any competition cheerleader or contact [email protected] to have a registration form emailed to you or if you have any questions.

Proceeds will benefit the Pierce County High School Competition Cheerleaders.

Fiber Art Exhibit to be held Mar. 1-24

The Okefenokee Heritage Center will host a Fiber Art Exhibit presented by the South Georgia Modern Quilt Guild from March 1 to March 24. The exhibit will feature a wide variety of fiber art pieces, including traditional and modern quilts, hand-dyed items, and needlework of all types. Diabetes support group meets first Saturdays

The Talki Foundation’s monthly support group for people in Ware County and surrounding areas with diabetes and their caregivers will hold meetings the first Saturday of every month.

The support group meets 11 a.m. in the Hospital Annex Classroom, 1800 Alice Street, Waycross. Upcoming dates include: February 7, March 7, April 4, May 2 and June 6.

The support group, provides educational resources and a chance to connect with others. Talki Foundation President Charlie Komons facilitates the monthly meeting which is hosted by Memorial Satilla Health.
