BEARVILLE — Miles Pitts’ third three-pointer of the game proved to be the game-winner lifting Pierce County’s junior varsity Bears to a 44-42 victory Friday over visiting Cook.
Pitts scored nine of his game-high 15 points in the first period helping the Bears race out to a 20-6 lead January 30. The Hornets cut the deficit to 10 points by halftime outscoring Pierce County 14-10 in the second stanza to trail 30-20 at the break.
Cook dominated the third quarter outscoring the Bears 18-7 to grab a 38-37 lead. PCHS, with the aid of Pitts’ three, outpointed the Hornets 7-4 in the final stanza.
D.J. Moody also reached double-digits scoring 10 points. Will Higginson (trey) netted all seven of his points in the first half. Maverick Pitts chipped in four points.
Dathan Thornton (trey) and Dawson Brady each netted three points. Noah Cochran bagged two points.
