Lady Bear swimmers capture last meet

WAYCROSS — Pierce County High School swimmers closed out its season here with the Lady Bears winning the “Last Chance Meet” at the YMCA and the Bears finishing second.

The Saturday, January 24 event also served as Senior Day with parents and family members joining in for the recognition.

Up next is the state championships scheduled for Tuesday, February 3 in Atlanta at Georgia Tech.

Jacey Ryals led the Lady Bears with two first-place finishes. Lyla Brooker and Tegan Dixon, along with the 200-yard freestyle relay team logged firstplace finishes.

The Bears received firstplace efforts from Rowan McCrea and Sam Chesser.

Ryals captured the 100 free with a time of 1:04.12 and the 500 free posting a time of 6:36.16.

Brooker claimed the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:21.24 Dixon finished first in the 100 breastroke clocking a time of 1:22.16.

The 200 free relay team consisting of Jasmine Sergent, Brooker, Ryals and Dixon reached the wall first with a time of 1:56.16.

Dixon was the runnerup in the 50 free (28.54 seconds). Brooker (28.81 sec.) placed fourth with Sergent (29.93 sec.) sixth.

Sergent (1:06.77) finished second behind Ryals in the 100 free.

The Lady Bears’ 200 medley relay team was disqualified due to an early take off.

McCrea, a senior, captured the 100 free. Not time was released.

Chesser (1:08.93) was first in the 100 breastroke. He finished second in the 200 free with a personalbest time of 2:01.74.

Donald Moser (25.4 sec.) finished fifth in the 50 free.

The 200 medley relay team (2:00.24) of Davis Dyal, McCrea, Chesser and Moser placed second as did the 200 free relay team (1:43.07) of Dyal, McCrea, Chesser and Moser.
