Lena May Cross Ware, 82, of Moatsville, West Virginia, residing with her daughter in Blackshear, passed away Friday morning, January 16, 2026, at her residence, following an extended illness.
Born February 9, 1943 in Belington, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Tazwell and Marg aret O’Brien Cross. She had lived in West Virginia most of her life where she was a longtime homemaker before moving to Pierce County in 2024.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Layman Lynn Ware Sr.; a daughter, Crystal Dawn Ware; a sister, Madeline Wilfong and her brother, Leon Cross.
Survivors include four children, Tammy Ware, Zephyrhills, FL, Layman Ware, Belington, WV, Tonda Ware, Philippi, WV and Jody Ware, Blackshear; six grandchildren, Rachel Ware, Amanda Ware, Daniel Haller, Isaac Haller, Cecilia Hernandez and Lyla Hernandez; two sisters, Shirley Payne and Barbara Spencer and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorialization was by cremation.
