(The E-911 Advisory Committee discussed and/or voted on the following during their regular, quarterly meeting Wednesday, January 21.)
Emergency policies: The committee discussed making changes to all of the county’s standard operating procedures (SOP). The committee agreed to work on the SOPs for the various departments and offices with the goal of having the revisions and updates completed by the April 22 quarterly meeting. Once approved by the committee, the SOPs will be forwarded to the county commission for final approval.
Officer elections: Interim County Manager Thomas Sauls was elected chairman, Blackshear Police Chief Chris Wright was elected as vice chairman and 911 Supervisor Debra Tanner was elected secretary.
Meeting schedule: The quarterly meeting schedule of the advisory committee was announced for 2026. Meetings are scheduled for April 22, July 22 and October 28. All will be held at 2 p.m. and will take place at the Southeast Georgia Regional Agriculture Center in Blackshear.
