PCHS swim team is region runner-up

BAXLEY — Pierce County High School’s swim team recorded a Region 3-AA runner-up finish here Wednesday in a meet hosted by Appling County.

All nine members of the swim team medaled.

The Bears’ Sam Chesser, Donald Moser and the Lady Bears’ Jacey Ryals captured two individual titles each. Lady Bear Teagan Dixon and Bear Davis Dyal recorded a firstplace finish apiece.

PCHS swept top honors the girls’ and boys’ 200-yard frestyle events.

Ryals captured the 200 free event posting a time of 2:26.78. She also won the 500 free event with a time of 6:31.03.

Dixon captured the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:10.23. She placed in the 200 individual medley (IM) with a 2:36.74 clocking.

Lyla Brooker finished runner-up in the 100 free with a time of 1:03.92. Khloe Hewatt swam to a third-place showing in the 500 free with a time of 9:36.07. Jasmine Sergent claimed a second-place showing in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:32.97.

The Lady Bears’ winning 200 free relay team consisting of Brooker, Ryals, Sergent and Dixon posted a time of 1:54.06. The same group were runnerup in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:12.

Chesser finished first in the 200 IM posting a personal-best time of 2:23.95. He captured the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.53.

Moser posted a 25.17-second winning time in the 50 free. He won the 100 free with a time of 56.16 seconds.

Dyal captured the 500 free with a time of 7:41.97. Rowan McCrea finished second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:18.38. McCrea

SPECIAL PHOTOS placed fourth in the 50 free posting a time of 25.63 seconds.

The Bears’ winning 200 free relay team consisting of Dyal, McCrea, Moser and Chesser closed with a time of 1:39.92. The four were second in the 200 medley realy with a time of 1:57.94.
