Robert M. ‘Bob’ Packer III

FORT WORTH, Texas — Robert M. Packer III, 'Bob,' 79, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 14, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of compassionate service, devotion to family, and a life richly lived.

Born January 31, 1946, Packer dedicated his career to the practice of internal medicine in Waycross where he worked tirelessly to provide exceptional medical care to his patients and community. A graduate of Dartmouth College, he went on to earn his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He also served his country with distinction as an officer in the United States Army.

Beyond his medical practice, Packer was deeply engaged in the Waycross community, where his commitment to service touched countless lives. His passions extended far beyond the exam room. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the University of Georgia Bulldogs football program, a devoted cook who delighted in preparing fine food and wine for those he loved, and above all, a man who treasured his family.

Packer was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan J. Packer, who passed in August 2020.

He is survived by his three sons and their families: Jamie Packer and his wife, Pam, of Fort Worth, and their daughters Kennedy, Reese, Emmy Kate, and Finley; Rusty Packer and his wife, Courtney, of Scarborough, Maine, and their children Annabelle and Grady; and Brooks Packer and Kacie Hendley of Lake Park, Ga., and his daughters Kathryn and Andi. His legacy lives on in the love and memories he created with each of them.

A memorial service will be held at First Methodist Church in Waycross at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 14. All who know him are welcome to celebrate his life and the indelible mark he left on his family, patients, and community.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Duck’s Unlimited Okefenokee Chapter in Packer’s honor.
