The Okefenokee Heritage Center has received a $10,000 donation from the Georgia Power Foundation to support the ongoing operations of the nonprofit museum and cultural arts organization. The OHC has been serving Waycross and Ware County along with surrounding counties for more than 50 years, offering classes, workshops, field trips, community events, and a wide variety of art exhibits. The museum offers visitors a look at the history and culture of the area from its first settlers to current life in the wiregrass. Georgia Power, the OHC Corporate Sponsor for January has been a contributor to The Okefenokee Heritage Center for many years. On hand for the presentation of the check were: (front, l-r) board member Rosa Douglas, OHC Executive Director Carla Cornett, Georgia Power Area Manager Brent James, Art Gallery Director Bob Brown, and Photography Guild Chair Allen Alnoch. (Back, l-r) Art Guild Chair Susan Newman, along with board members Christy Thurston, Kristy Foreman, John Jordan, Vicki Kuhbander, Mary Kathryn Thrift, and Steve Strickland.
