The Friends of the Pierce County Library group recently made a $250 donation to the Student Leadership Academy’s “Books for Bears” project. The project’s ultimate goal is to refurbish and repaint or replace the little lending libraries scattered through the county. The funds donated will help cover the cost of materials. The Student Leadership Academy is a joint effort by the chamber and Pierce Family Connection to empower Pierce County High School students to create ongoing projects that will positively impact the community. Shown above, Friends of the Library President pro tem Greg O’Driscoll (left) presents Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Christi Pitts with the donation. Friends of the Pierce County Library is a nonprofit group aimed at raising funds and doing volunteer work to help promote and support the county library and to promote literacy in general.
