Pierce County’s 9th-grade Bears’ basketball team posted a 50-44 home victory Monday over Hoboken’s Lighthouse Christian Academy.
The Bears had eight players contribute to the balanced scoring attack. Miles and Maverick Pitts led the way scoring nine points apiece.
Mason Hutcheson and Greyson Raulerson followed with eight points and seven points respectively. Will Higginson and D.J. Moody netted six points apiece. Ryan Griffin finished with three points with JaShaun Faison bucketing two points.
PCHS jumped out to a 17-8 lead by the end of the first period. The Patriots cut four points off the deficit outscoring the home team 13-9 in the second stanza to get to within 26-21 at intermission.
The Bears took control of the game in the third quarter outscoring Lighthouse Christian 13-5 in building a 39-26 lead. The Patriots made things interesting in the final stanza outscoring Pierce County 18-11.
