City officials sworn in by Judge Brooks

Mayor Keith Brooks and three Blackshear city council members were sworn in at the council’s January 6 work session.

Prior to reviewing a variety of matters awaiting a vote at the council’s next regular session, Superior Court Judge J. Kelly Brooks administered the oath of office to recently reelected Mayor Keith Brooks. The similarity in names is no coincidence, Judge Brooks is Mayor Brooks’s brother.

In a second swearing in ceremony, Judge Brooks administered the oath of office to three city council members: Corey Lesseig, Pastor Charles Broady Sr. and the Rev. Mitch Hall.

Lesseig, representing Blackshear District 5, was the only incumbent candidate of the three but like the others also ran unopposed. Broady was elected to represent Blackshear District 4 and Hall was elected to represent District 3. Broady and Hall replaced council members Theodore Mackey and Chuck Ward respectively, both of whom opted to not run for re-election.
