Lady Herons fall in wrestling pre-lims at Jefferson

JEFFERSON — Brantley County’s Lady Herons came up short here at host Jefferson High School in the Division II team Dual wrestling preliminary Thursday falling 54-27.

BCHS won five of the nine matches contested. The Lady Herons’ chances for the win were hampered losing five matches via forfeit to the Lady Dragons.

Brantley County’s five victories were captured by Sage Machado, Madyson Clark, Cheryl Tencza, Lillyan Combee and Abagail Fields.

“We (coaches) are so proud of our girls this year and look forward to the next team dual season,” said head coach Jay Edwards. “We couldn't be more of our Lady Heron wrestlers and look forward to our individual run at state the remainder of our season.”

Up next for the Lady Herons is the Traditional tournament which begins January 30-January 31 with with region/Area tournaments across the state.
