SAVANNAH — Four Ware County players combined for 57 points leading the Gators to a 72-46 victory here Friday over Benedictine in a Region 1-AAAA affair.
Kevin Ramsey paced the four-headed doubledigit scoring list January 16 with a game-high 16 points which included a 10-of-11 free throw performance. Isaiah White (two treys) and Ja'Londi O'Hara (two treys) each scored 15 points. Davion Jones (trey) contributed 11 points.
The Gators (15-2 overall, 4-0 region), winners of six straight and ranked sixth in the latest Max-Preps poll, received six points from Masiyer McKoy and Elan Jones. Luke Hinley drained a trey for his three points.
The Cadets (2-14, 0-5) dropped their fifth straight game and are off to one of their worst starts this century. Benedictine entered the 202526 campaign having recorded 16-plus wins in each of the previous four years.
Ware County took control of the game early building a 21-8 lead after one period. The Gators extended the margin to 36-17 at intermission after outscoring BC 15-9 in the second quarter.
The advantage surpassed 20 points by the end of the third stanza with Ware County outscoring the Cadets 1813 pushing the lead out to 54-30. The Gators clipped Benedictine 18-16 over the final eight minutes.
