SYLVESTER — Brantley County recorded its third road sweep of the season Saturday and first in Region 1-A play taking down Worth County in a Saturday afternoon matinee.
The Lady Herons (14-3 overall, 5-2 region) extended their winning streak to a season-best six games with a spine-tingling come-from-behind 45-42 decision over the Lady Rams (7-8, 2-3) January 17. Worth County entered having won four of its last six games.
The Herons (7-10, 3-4) won for the second time in three games rolling to a 7137 victory in the finale over the Rams (5-10, 2-3). Worth County has dropped six of its last nine games.
BCHS entertained Bacon County Tuesday, January 20. Brantley County travels Saturday, January 24 to Thomasville for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
No. 10 Lady Herons 45 Worth Co ............... 42 Abbie Lee scored a game-high 14 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds for her second double-double in three games helping Brantley County overcame a slow start to escape the Lady Rams’ upset bid.
Worth County took advantage of the Lady Herons’ cold shooting in the opening eight minutes grabbing a 10-4 lead. Each team netted 13 points during the second period with the Lady Rams taking a 2317 lead to the lockerroom.
Brantley County sliced four points off the deficit during the third quarter outscoring the Lady Rams 13-9 to pull to within 3230. BCHS outpointed Worth County 15-10 in the final eight minutes to escape.
Lee also led the team with four assists and four steals. Chloe Johns (trey; rebound, assist, steal) and Kirsten Smith (two treys; two steals, rebound) contributed seven points and six points respectively. Julie Carter (trey; two rebounds, two assists, steal) bagged five points.
Tamiyah Coley (two rebounds, steal), Anniston Bowers (trey; four rebounds, assist, steal) and Grace Carver (rebound) each netted three points. Edie Lowther (four rebonds, assist, steal) and Ella Highsmith (two rebounds) bagged two points apiece.
Worth County was paced by the 17 points of Sanora McKind.

Brantley County built a 14-0 first quarter lead against the Rams. BCHS padded the margin by three points during the second stanza outscoring the home team 15-12 to open up a 29-12 halftime lead.
The Herons surged in the second half scoring 21 points in each of the final two periods. They outscored Worth County 21-12 in the third quarter stretching the margin to 50-24. BCHS closed the game outpointing the Rams 21-13.
Cole Courson (seven rebounds, assist) led a trio of players in double-figures scoring a game-high 21 points. Holton DePratter posted 13 points to go along with a team-high eight boards. Tallan Collins finished with 10 points and six rebounds.
Tristan Dyess (two treys, seven rebounds, two assists, steal) and Jayden Byron (trey; seven rebounds, two assists) followed with eight points and seven points respectively. Jayden Simmons (four rebounds, team-high three steals, assist) and Zary Harris (three assists, two rebounds) each contributed four points. Hayze Evans (trey; five rebounds, two assists, steal) netted three points with Sean Hutcherson canning a free throw.
Nathan Howell handed out a team-high four assists and recorded a steal.
