I stopped selling my Okefenokee Swamp books about a year ago after they had sold out of the first and second editions.
I actually held onto about a case and refused to sell these. Last week my good friend Dink Ne-Smith contacted me to say he i s heading to meet with Governor Brian Kemp in Atlanta and asked if I had a few that I could sell him.
Dink bought my first case of Satilla Solitude books. He also wrote the story for our kids’ book “Kase for the Environment.”
If there is any way I can help him after all he has done to help me I will return the favor.
Dink is lobbying against anything which could harm the Okefenokee Swamp. He thought mine and Don Berryhill’s book would be a great gift to give to the Governor showing him why it does not need to be destroyed or even harmed in any way.
I know Dink, and when he gets his mind set on something he is like a bulldog and will do everything in his power to be convincing. He was like that when they were trying to bring coal ash to Jesup. Dink was dead set against that and got his point across.
The guys with Georgia Film Works did my interview last week for the documentary at Zirkle.
They are planning to interview a couple more people before it goes any further.
I know one or two of the next interviews will be some of the actual Zirkle family that are coming up from Florida. I think that they really need to be included in this documentary.
As soon as I get a date of when it will be completed, I will make it known.
