HAZLEHURST — Brantley County and Jeff Davis split a Regin 1-A showdown here Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Herons (11-3 overall, 2-2 region) extended their current winning streak to three games June 10 turning back the Lady Yellow Jackets (4-12, 1-3), losers of three straight, 45-34.
The Yellow Jackets (11-5, 3-1), who had dropped two of their previous three games after a nine-game winning streak, secured the split posting a 65-41 victory in the nightcap over the Herons (5-9, 1-3), who have dropped four of their last five games.
Brantley County hosted Berrien Tuesday, January 13 in the first of three region matchups this week. BCHS travels Friday, January 16 to Fitzgerald and Saturday, January 17 to Worth County (2 p.m.).

Brantley County rallied from a four-point halftime deficit outscoring the Lady Yellow Jackets 27-12 over the final two quarters for the win.
BCHS jumped out to a 12-8 lead in the opening eight minutes. Jeff Davis responded with a 14-6 scoring advantage in the second period to take a 22-18 lead into the break.
The Lady Herons bounced back in the third stanza outscoring Jeff Davis 15-7 to claim a 33-39 lead. They outpointed the Lady Yellow Jackets 12-5 in the final quarter.
Tamiyah Coley (three rebounds, three steals, two assists) led BCHS with 12 points. Julie Carter (three rebounds, two steals) netted nine points. Ella Highsmith (team-high 11 rebounds, steal, assist) followed with seven points.
Abbie Lee (eight rebounds, team-high five steals) and Chloe Johns (two rebounds, steal) bagged six points and five points respectively.
Kirsten Smith (five rebounds, two assists), Grace Carver (rebound) and Edie Lowther (three rebounds) contributed two points apiece.

The host Yellow Jackets outscored Brantley County in every quarter en route to the win.
A fast-paced first period ended with Jeff Davis in front 20-14. The Yellow Jackets tacked on two points to the margin outscoring BCHS 13-11 in the second stanza to take a 33-25 lead at intermission.
The scoring slowed in the third quarter with Jeff Davis outpointing the Herons 11-7 for a 44-32 advantage. The host blew the game open over the final eight minutes outscoring Brantley County 21-9.
Hayze Evans (four treys; steal) led BCHS with 13 points off the bench. Jayden Byron (four rebounds, steal) chipped in 10 points with Tallon Collins (three rebounds, steal) netting seven points.
Jayden Simmons (three rebounds, assist, steal) and Cole Courson (two assists) each bagged four points. Nathan Howell (team-high three assists, steal) added three points. Tristian Dyess (two assists, steal) led the Herons with five rebounds.
Jeff Davis had four players in double figures combining for 50 points. The Yellow Jackets were led by the game-high 16 points of J.J. Benjamin (two treys). A.J. Sampson was next with 12 points. Kolby Jarrell (trey) and J.T. Bryant (trey) followed with 11 points apiece.
