BEARVILLE — Pierce County missed a bid to the Class AA Team Duals state tournament, losing in the consolation finals Friday.
The host Bears placed third January 9 in the five-team Area 3 tournament behind champion Cook and runner-up Appling County. Also competing were Crisp County and Sumter County.
PCHS went 2-2 notching a 5130 decision over Sumter County and a 57-12 victory over Crisp County. The Bears fell 52-21 to Cook and 44-31 to Appling County.
Pierce County will begin preparations for the Traditional tournament.
Tristan Crosby (106) went 1-3, winning his opening match by forfeit. He lost his next three matches via pinfalls (31 seconds, 3:36 and 25 sec.).
Aiden Baker (113) suffered three pin losses (5:10, 1:13, 1:46). William Shreves (120) posted a 4-0 mark, winning twice via pin (3:21, 2:39), once by a 7-3 decision and one by forfeit.
Gregory Sallet (126) recorded three pin wins (33 sec., 40 sec., and 1:14) and notched a 1-0 decision in his four matches. Caleb Cason (132) lost by pin (1:27) and by technical fall (18-1).
Landon Taylor (132/138) split two matches in the 132-lb. division, winning via pin (5:22) and losing by technical fall (15-0). He won both 138-lb. matches with a pin (3:37) and forfeit.
Carter Crowell (138/144) suffered a pair of pin losses (17 sec., 37 sec.) in the 138-lb. class and a pin loss (1:05) in the 144-lb. division.
Cooper Davis (144) finished 3-1 with three pin wins (5:53, 45 sec., and 42 sec.) and a technical fall loss (16-0).
Shevy Sapp (150/157) went 3-0 in the 150-lb. class with two pins (3:26, 2:47) and a major decision (12-1). He recorded a pin victory (2:47) in the 157-lb. division.
Shaun Traxler (175) garnered a 7-6 victory before losing via three pins (1:02, 50 sec., 106).
Thomas Sweat (190) posted a 31 mark, winning two decisions (136, 5-1) and by forfeit. He lost a 13-4 major decision.
Jay’lynn Everett (215) went 2-1, winning by pin (1:21) and forfeit. He lost a 19-9 major decision.
Greyson Sikes (215) recorded a pin (3:31) in his lone match.
Jackson Courson (285) posted a 2-1 mark, winning an 8-3 decision and by forfeit. He lost via pin (1:07).
Carson Yawn (285) garnered a victory by forfeit.
